Liz at Lancaster is lucky enough to have many excellent restaurants nearby but now the quirkily-named Toni’s Fully Furnished Pizza Co, has opened at the end of the block. Apparently when Toni and Ian Sime started the original restaurant in Pretoria 8 years ago, the shop was not furnished at all, hence the tongue-in- cheek name. 4 university friends who used to hang out at Toni’s then decided to take a Toni’s franchise and luckily for us, in August, they opened their franchised restaurant at the Lancaster Centre a mere 3 minute walk from Liz at Lancaster. I’ve had great reports from Liz at Lancaster guests who have eaten there and people who stayed recently were so impressed they went back twice and even mentioned it on a Tripadvisor review. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g312578-d574068-r172639640-Liz_at_Lancaster_Guesthouse-Johannesburg_Greater_Johannesburg_Gauteng.html
You can enjoy summer evenings and warm winter days on the outside deck or in winter grab some warmth from the huge mosaiced pizza oven. Try their signature pizza the Pizza Pesto – with a combination of basil and peppadew pesto, goats milk cheese, prosciutto, avocado and walnuts. If that doesn’t take your fancy then try the Pizza e Rucola with crème fraîche tomato base, prosciutto and rocket. Yum! And if it’s sweet things you enjoy there is a range of dessert pizzas on offer – with toppings such as Belgian chocolate, hazelnut and marshmallows or banana, toasted almonds, honey and cream. Completely sinful! A guest here at Liz at Lancaster had their nougat pudding and said it was sublime!
